About Lisette
From The Netherlands - Master Of Science Clinical Psychology
Coach - University Psychology Instructor
Background
I was born in the Netherlands, where I grew up with my parents and two brothers. 8 years ago, I made the decision to move to Spain. What began as a new adventure soon turned into a meaningful chapter, volunteering with dogs gave me a sense of purpose.
Like many, I’ve faced my share of personal challenges, including mental health struggles that began at a young age. Through therapy and the support of a strong network, I was able to navigate and overcome these difficulties. These experiences, along with a deep desire to understand and connect with others, sparked a lasting commitment in me: to support and advocate for those facing mental health challenges.
I believe that mental well-being deserves focused attention at every stage of life. Whether challenges arise early on or later in adulthood, everyone benefits from dedicated and compassionate support. As mental health concerns continue to affect people across all age groups, offering thoughtful and personalized care has never been more important.
My journey has not only deepened my dedication to mental health care but has also inspired me to help create a more open, understanding, and supportive dialogue around it.

Experience
I have gained familiarity with therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavior therapy and client-centered therapy. Additionally, I have experience with psychological assessment.
In addition to the experiences mentioned earlier, an integral aspect of Lis Mental Care involves the potential utilisation of personal experiences, when deemed appropriate, to provide support. This approach promotes an open and honest dialogue with the objective of reducing stigma and fostering relationships grounded in trust.
Finally, I have acquired valuable experience in the field of research, focusing on a range of areas including:
- Burn-out, pro-active behaviour, and personality traits.
- Depression care and the assessment of quality of life/depression in elderly.
- Chronic pain, self-discrepancy and the impact of loneliness.
These research have enriched my knowledge and expertise in addressing these complex and significant issues.
Apart from that, I am also active as an instructor in higher education, where I collaborate with students and give lectures in Neuropsychology, Cognitive Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Social Psychology, and Health Psychology. This dual role allows me to stay connected to the latest scientific insights and integrate them into my therapeutic approach
